Here I design wind farms, assess their grid connection feasibility and compliance, and recommend solutions to mitigate problems. Typical studies include industrial and wind farm connection feasibility and cost estimation, reactive power requirement and capacitor bank switching, power quality (voltage sags, harmonics, and flicker) assessment, and insulation co-ordination for lightning and switching events.

Part-time Technical Consultant, University of Manchester Nov, 2006 – Feb, 2008

Here I worked on a Power Quality project for a large pharmaceutical company and provided solutions to mitigate nuisance tripping of an industrial drive. Based on the study I’ve conducted, a drive procurement specification was prepared to enable the drive and industrial process voltage sag ride through. During this period I’ve also provided technical support in client’s liaison with various drive manufacturers, and assisted drive manufacturers’ in testing drives to meet client’s voltage sag immunity  specification.

Teaching Assistant, University of Manchester Sep 2006 – July 2008

Here I conducted lab demonstrations for Electrical Engineering MSc, MEng and BEng students, teaching practical applications of classroom theory using computer system models via engaged discussions with students. Hey Chandra!
Nice blog, and an impressive resume! I didn’t know you had all of those published papers out?

As you may or may not know I have left TNEI to move down to Birmingham and start a PhD in management of Bioenergy schemes. Just getting settled in at the moment but it looks quite interesting (and difficult).

Hope the wedding plans are going alright

    Hi Chandra,
Eventhough I am working on Power system studies, I was not aware of those 3 terminology of harmonics. Thanks for the information.
